A lab report follows the order of the experiment: what you set out to find, what you did, what happened, and what it means. The hardest line to hold is the one between results and discussion, because results state what the data show and nothing more, while the discussion is where you explain why, compare against what was expected, and account for the readings that misbehaved. Getting that split right matters more than how the sentences sound.
Results present the readings, tables and figures with a plain statement of the trend, no interpretation and no blame. The discussion is where the explanation, the comparison with the expected value and the honest account of error belong, and merging the two is a common structural mistake in first-year reports.
The method is judged on whether another student could run your experiment from it alone, so quantities, timings, temperatures and the number of trials matter more than fluent prose. It is written as a record of what you did, not as a set of instructions copied from the handout.
